More power to them
Attending recent budget meetings in Raleigh might give one the impression that government action is the solution to every problem.
Just for the record, I didn't have my hand out for financing of my pet project. I didn't ask them to "do it for the children" or "for the future." I value liberty and independence. If I want something, no matter how badly I want it or how important it is, I pay for it myself. I won't demand that other people buy things for me or pay for the programs I like. I won't take other people's money, spend it as I like, and then claim it's in their best interests.
And a roomful of people at a public hearing demanding support from the public treasury doesn't make it all right to take other people's money, either.
I hear many people say, "All politicians want is money. All politicians want is to get a bigger budget and more control and more power." And yet the public hearings are filled with those eager to hand just that over to our elected officials.
Can politicians possibly pass a budget that doesn't expand their power and authority by controlling more of my money?
We'll see, won't we?
